One of Virginia's Oldest and Largest Prosthetic & Orthotic Clinics
Our founder, Fred Murko, CP, PT, ATC, established Virginia Prosthetics in Roanoke in 1966 after he saw a steadily growing need for quality, compassionate care in Southwest Virginia, balanced with the lastest technology advancements in the field.
Fred's early vision and our continued commitment to his unwavering principle of quality patient care, have led to Virginia Prosthetics today being the largest provider in Virginia with 15 locations throughout Virginia and North Carolina.

Fred Murko founded Virginia Prosthetics Inc. simply because he saw that area patients were in need. He's pictured here with two patients from among the thousands he served during his long career. |

In addition to helping improve patients' lives, Fred believed in strengthening the industry, as described in this newspaper article from the late 1950's. |

In 1967, Fred opened Virginia Prosthetics Inc. in its present location and invited the community to visit his new, modern facility. While the building and the technology have undergone numerous upgrades, additions and improvements over the last four decades, one thing remains unchanged throughout the company - Fred's philosophy of helping patients believe in their possibilities. |
