Technology helps our patients live
life to the fullest.
As a Beta test facility, we are constantly testing and evaluating new prosthetic devices. This exposure to new technology from conception to introduction places us in an enviable position – we already have experience with most new technology before it is available to the marketplace, and as a result, are able to make truly informed recommendations to our patients.
We offer a wide selection of prosthetic components ranging from time-proven industry standards to the newest in cutting edge technology. Whatever your needs, we have the experience and technology to provide you with a prosthesis that meets or exceeds those demands.
The following components are just a sampling of the many that we currently use.
LOWER LIMB
Ossur- Ceterus
Ceterus mimics the body's normal twisting motion with a gradual resistance that never creates abrupt stops. The Torsion Control Cell reduces both rotary forces on the knee joint and shear forces on the residual limb. As the amputee pivots in any one direction, the Torsion Control Cell provides a steady, elastic movement with gradual resistance. Numerous activities can now be fully enjoyed with the rotational flexibility offered by Ceterus. Adjustments to the shock pylon can be fully controlled by the user to accommodate any type of activity. Flex-Foot Ceterus® gives users the freedom to engage in varied activities without ever having to change feet or sacrifice comfort and performance.
Ossur- Re-Flex VSP
The Re-Flex VSP is the first prosthesis to successfully integrate a shock absorption system. It uses a carbon fiber compression spring, and telescoping tubes that provide up to an inch of vertical compression. This cushions the impact to amputees' residual limbs, allowing them to land on their prosthesis when descending stairs or curbs, for example, without experiencing pain or discomfort. It also stores and releases energy to allow the user to walk comfortably, efficiently and naturally. The Re-Flex VSP is an ideal foot for most amputees, particularly the very active. Shock reduction is beneficial for transfemoral amputees who experience a majority of the ground reaction forces on the ischial tuberosity.
Otto Bock- Trias
The overall structure of the 1C31 Trias+ is similar to the human foot.. When studying the ground reaction forces, there are relatively small differences between the prosthetic and contra lateral side – this is a result of the foot’s excellent shock absorption and terminal stance support properties. The 1C31 is the result of creative prosthetic design and innovative technology. Conjoined dual springs in the heel and forefoot provide shock absorption at heel strike as well as a more natural rollover. Secure, controlled movements give greater confidence while walking because the foot adapts well to various walking speeds and uneven surfaces.
Otto Bock- C-Walk
The carbon spring technology of the C-Walk® creates a virtual joint at the physiological ankle and effectively supports the movement of the lower leg throughout mid stance. The carbon C-springs and the base spring are joined with a control ring, all designed to work as a system to provide optimal comfort and dynamic response while walking.
During heel strike, the heel acts as a lever that quickly compresses the C-spring to deliver dynamic plantar flexion. During mid stance the C-springs expand and support rollover with energy stored from Phase 1. The control ring governs the expansion of the C-springs and increases the forefoot support during rollover. The base spring stores energy as the body weight moves to the forefoot and this is then released during the transition to swing phase. Extra-long support – both in terms of time and the length of the base spring – ensures a smooth transition from the prosthetic side to the unaffected limb to reduce stress on the sound limb.
Endolite- Echelon
The next level in stability, the Echelon is designed for the low to high impact K3 amputee who may also enjoy occasional recreational sports. Lightweight and dynamic the Echelon utilizes hydraulics to control plantar and dorsi flexion. The biometric design simulates a more natural ankle motion and the self aligning feature provides comfort while traversing varied terrain.
Freedom Innovations- Renegade
Only one line of shock devices in the world has patented Z-Shock Technology™. Thinking Z means exceptional vertical shock deflection and comfort. But Z innovation goes further. Through active tibial progression, energy is absorbed and redirected, helping an amputee walk or run smoothly and confidently at any speed. Add to this a 100% carbon-fiber shock design and the result is a durable, maintenance-free device that's 1/3 the weight of traditional shock feet.
Otto Bock- Harmony Vacuum Suspension System
Improving the fit of your prosthesis can give you greater freedom through more confidence and improved limb health. The innovative Harmony pumps pull air out of your socket for a secure, intimate fit from the time you put your prosthesis on in the morning until you’re ready to take it off at night. When your prosthesis is securely in place, you have a better sense of where your leg is in space (proprioception), allowing you more freedom to move without wondering if your leg will slip or slide. The Harmony System can even relieve problems with fluctuating limb volume. Some studies show that the Harmony System improves circulation*, thereby helping to maintain the size of your residual limb throughout the day. This relieves you of the burden to add socks to maintain socket fit.
Otto Bock- 3R80
The 3R80’s rotary hydraulic responds to ground reaction forces during the stance phase of gait. This gives the user exceptional reliability and confidence to know that their knee will deliver stability when they need it. It utilizes a high hydraulic resistance to prevent involuntary flexion of the knee. Accommodates a wide range of speeds for active amputees but is easy for you to fine-tune stance and swing characteristics. The 3R80’s rotary hydraulic principle is particularly advantageous on uneven surfaces, slopes and when walking down stairs. It creates a high level of stance phase control and boosts the confidence of the user.
BIONIC DEVICES
Ossur- Power Knee
The world's first powered bionic prosthesis for above-knee amputees, the POWER KNEE offers unprecedented levels of functionality and performance. This bionic knee replaces true muscle activity to bend and straighten the knee as required.
Working as an integrated extension of its user, it synchronizes motion with that of the sound leg. When walking on level ground, the user is gently propelled forward, allowing greater distances to be covered without becoming as tired as before. On stairs and inclines the knee actively lifts the user up the next step, producing a secure and natural ascent, foot over foot.
Ossur- RHEO KNEE
The newly redesigned RHEO KNEE® is an advanced prosthetic device that liberates its users to focus on their chosen activity, instead of having to think about how they are walking. New developments in Össur's proven bionic technology mean that the RHEO KNEE can recognize and respond even better to the most subtle changes in walking speed and terrain. Using sophisticated artificial intelligence, it continuously learns and adapts to an amputee's walking style and environment. As a result, it restores people's ability to walk naturally, comfortably and confidently at any speed.
Otto Bock- C-Leg
Fully enjoying life – casually walking down aisles at the store, cycling with friends in the park, or maybe going hiking in the mountains. With the C-Leg, everyday activity is possible once again. The world's first microprocessor-controlled knee joint is controlled in real time throughout the entire gait cycle. This means the highest level of dynamic response with unsurpassed safety. By now, over 20,000 C-Leg wearers all over the world are profiting fro m the many advantages of proven C-Leg Technology.
The C-Leg system automatically adapts to any situation while you walk. The advantages: The risk of falling is significantly reduced. You no longer need to focus on every step; you save energy and can focus on the important things in life once again. The physiological gait pattern simultaneously provides relief for your entire body. UPPER LIMB
Touch Bionics- i-LIMB
The world’s first fully articulating and commercially available bionic hand.
Touch Bionics is a leading developer of advanced upper-limb prosthetics (ULP). One of the two products now commercially available from the company, the i-LIMB Hand, is a first-to-market prosthetic device with five individually powered digits. This artificial limb looks and acts like a real human hand and represents a generational advance in bionics and patient care.
The i-LIMB Hand is controlled by a unique, highly intuitive control system that uses a traditional two-input myoelectric (muscle signal) to open and close the hand’s life-like fingers. Myoelectric controls utilize the electrical signal generated by the muscles in the remaining portion of the patient’s limb. This signal is picked up by electrodes that sit on the surface of the skin. Existing users of basic myoelectric prosthetic hands are able to quickly adapt to the system and can master the device’s new functionality within minutes. For new patients, the i-LIMB Hand offers a prosthetic solution that has never before been available.
Once fitted with a custom “living skin” cosmetic cover, the i-LIMB is nearly indistinguishable from the contra lateral hand.

SPORTS ADAPTIVE DEVICES
Utilizing the sports adaptive prosthetic devices available today, amputees no longer face the barriers they once did. Today’s amputees can participate and compete in almost any sport at whatever level they desire. In 2008, the International Olympic Committee finally removed the last barrier to amputee competition at the highest level by sanctioning a bilateral amputee to compete in the Olympic Games.
We work with both lower and upper extremity amputees to fabricate prostheses that allow them to enjoy any sport or activity imaginable, from golf to scuba diving, bowling to basketball, and auto racing to mountain climbing.
These are but a few of the devices we have available, just tell us what you want to accomplish and we can make a prosthesis that will allow you to do it. Remember “We believe In Your Possibilities”
