MEET THE TEAM
J. Douglas Call, C.P.
Doug Call is president of Virginia Prosthetics and a certified prosthetist. He joined the company in 1985. Doug is a graduate of Radford University, Radford, Va., and earned his Certificate of Prosthetics from Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago. He is certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, the American Orthotic and Prosthetics Association, the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists, the National Rehabilitation Association, and the Virginia Rehabilitation Association.


Charlie Coulter, O&P Coordinator
Charlie serves as the liaison between the company and the health care professionals we work with to ensure that they receive the highest levels of service possible and to promote a cohesive team approach to orthotic and prosthetic care. Based in our Roanoke, Va., headquarters, Charlie is a Roanoke native and graduate of Roanoke College. His additional responsibilities include providing in-service educational programs, introducing new products, and serving as the main point of contact for suggestions, questions or concerns from our health care industry customers. Charlie also manages our patient satisfaction program and patient advocacy efforts, which include peer and program support as well as legislative initiatives.





Gregory S. Deacon, C.P.
Gregory is a certified prosthetist and joined Virginia Prosthetics in 1973. He is certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association, and the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists. He earned a B.S. degree from Pembroke State College, Pembroke, S.C., and a Certificate of Prosthetics from New York State University.



Stephen Epperly, C.O., C. Ped., ATC
Stephen is certified as an orthotist, pedorthotist, and athletic trainer. He joined Virginia Prosthetics in 1995 and has previous experience with High Point Orthopaedics in N.C. as an orthotic technician. He is a member of both the National and Virginia Athletic Trainers Associations, the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association and the Medical Society of Virginia. He earned a B.S. degree from High Point University, N.C., and an orthotic certificate from Northwestern Medical School, Chicago.

Bryan Fuller, C.P.O
Bryan Fuller, CPO, is a certified orthotist and prosthetist in the company’s new Charlottesville, Va., office. He joined the company in 2005 and is responsible for all phases of patient management, including developing patient treatment plans, consulting with physicians and therapists, and supervising the fabrication of orthotic and prosthetic devices. A 1991 graduate of New York University where he earned a B.S. in Prosthetics and Orthotics, Bryan was certified as a Prosthetist/Orthotist in 1995 by the American Board for Certification in Prosthetics and Orthotics. He has worked in Charlottesville’s O & P industry for nearly 12 years.


Todd Gerl, CO
Todd Gerl, CO, joined Virginia Prosthetics in 1995 as a certified orthotist and has more than 25 years of experience helping improve patients’ lives and mobility through the use of orthotics. His specialties include sports orthotics, pediatric orthotics, fracture orthotics and foot orthotics. Todd works closely with Virginia Tech’s sports medicine department, and some of his previous experience includes positions in orthotics at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a graduate of Northwestern University Medical School’s Department of Orthotics and Prosthetics.






William Lovegreen, C.P.O
William is a certified prosthetist and orthotist at Virginia Prosthetics’ Christiansburg, Va., office. He joined the company in 1999 and was previously a partner and managing practitioner at Alliance Orthotics & Prosthetics, Clinical Operations Director at NovaCare, Inc., and Vice President of Professional Services at Advanced Orthopedic Technologies, Inc. William is working toward a Doctorate degree in Masters Health Management at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, and earned Certificates in Orthotics and Prosthetics from Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago. He attended Allegheny College in Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh, and Harmarville Rehabilitation Center School for Orthotics in Pittsburgh. He is both an exam committee practitioner and certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, and certified by the American Orthotic and Prosthetics Association and the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists






Chadwick McCracken, C.O.
Chadwick McCracken, C.O. joined Virginia Prosthetics in 2001 as an orthotic technician. He is a certified orthotist by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, and a member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists. He is presently completing his prosthetics residency at Virginia Prosthetics under the accreditation of the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education. Chad graduated from Radford University, Radford, Va., where he received both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physical and Health Educations. Chad earned his Certificates of Orthotics and Prosthetics in 2003 and 2005, respectively, from Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago, Ill.






Sidney Nicely, C.P.
Sidney is a certified prosthetist and has worked with Virginia Prosthetics since 1967. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, and earned his Certificate of Prosthetics from New York State University. He is certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, and a member of the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association and the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists.




Norman Olmstead, C. Ped.
Norman Olmstead is a certified pedorthist and an orthopedic shoe technician with more than 40 years experience in the field. He joined Virginia Prosthetics in 2005 where he’s using his skills and experience to assess, design, manufacture, fit and modify foot appliances and footwear to help patients experiencing painful or debilitating foot conditions. He evaluates the foot’s formation, examines the relationship between the foot and shoe, and provides assistance to alleviate conditions resulting from foot abnormalities. Norman represents the fifth generation of his family to be involved in the custom shoe industry.


Russell Rich, C.P.O.
Russell is a certified prosthetist and orthotist. He joined Virginia Prosthetics in 1995 and was previously facility manager for Advanced Orthopedic Technologies in Huntington, W.V., and a certified orthotist and orthotic/prosthetic technician in Columbia, S.C. A 1989 graduate of Francis Marion College, Florence, S.C., where he received a B.S. degree, Russell earned his Certificate of Prosthetics and Orthotics from Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago. He is certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, and a member of the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association, the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists, the National Rehabilitation Association, and the Virginia Rehabilitation Association.


Doug Smiley, C.P.O
Doug is a certified prosthetist and orthotist. He joined Virginia Prosthetics in 1998 and has previous experience at M.D. Orthotics and Prosthetics in Chicago, J.E. Hanger in Atlanta and Nashville Orthotics and Prosthetics in Tennessee. Doug is a 1991 graduate of Middle Tennessee University, Mufreesboro, where he received a B.S. degree, and earned Certificates in Orthotics and Prosthetics from Northwestern Medical School, Chicago. He is certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, and a member of the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association, and the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists


Marvin Thorne, BOCO
Marvin Thorne is a certified orthotist at Virginia Prosthetics’ Fishersville, Va., office. He joined the company in 2003 and was previously an orthotist with Thomas J. Powell, Inc. in Waynesboro, Va., for 17 years. He is certified by the Board of Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification.
